MSP Seminary Opens 2026–2027 Formation Year with Mass of the Holy Spirit
The Discipleship Year Stage of the Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP) Seminary formally opened the Formation Year 2026–2027 with a Mass of the Holy Spirit on June 9, 2026. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Very Rev. Reginaldo V. Lavilla, MSP, Father Moderator and Seminary Rector, and was concelebrated by the seminary formators.

In his homily, Fr. Lavilla underscored the indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in the life of every seminarian, emphasizing the need for complete surrender to the Spirit’s guidance. “Unless you surrender yourself to the Holy Spirit, you will not excel, because the Holy Spirit is the principal actor in our formation,” he said. He further encouraged the seminarians to remain attentive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, who continually draws out the best in each person.
Fr. Lavilla also highlighted that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are uniquely bestowed upon each individual—not for personal advancement, but for the building up and service of the community. Such gifts, he noted, find their true meaning when placed at the service of others in a spirit of humility and mission.
During the Mass, the candidates—the seminarians in the Discipleship Year Stage—formally expressed their commitment to the formative program of the MSP Seminary by signing their Declaration of Commitment in the presence of the Father Moderator, the Seminary Rector, and their Director. This significant rite marked their official entry into a year of deeper formation and discernment.
As part of their academic formation, the Discipleship Year seminarians pursue their philosophical studies at the Our Lady of La Salette College Seminary in Biga, Silang, Cavite, where they continue to be formed intellectually, spiritually, and pastorally.
With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the MSP Seminary community embarks once more on a new year of formation, nurturing future missionaries called to serve the Church with faith, zeal, and compassion.
